About Oak Engage
Oak Engage is a fast-growing, VC-backed SaaS company on a mission to transform how organisations connect with their people. Our mobile-first employee engagement platform helps frontline and desk-based workforces stay informed, aligned and supported — no matter where they work.
Our aim is scale over the next few years, expanding our product footprint, and building a world-class experience for millions of users across retail, hospitality, manufacturing, education and beyond.
As part of this growth, we're strengthening our Product & Design function with a dedicated UX Designer who can help shape intuitive, elegant experiences across web and mobile.
The Role
We're looking for a user-centric UX Designer to join our Product team and help define the future of Oak's platform. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and our wider Design function to understand customer problems and translate them into seamless, accessible, beautifully-crafted user journeys.
You'll be embedded in a cross-functional squad, contributing to discovery, UX research, wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and interaction design across our mobile and desktop experiences.
What You'll Do
- Map and define end-to-end user journeys for complex, multi-persona workflows (deskless + desktop)
- Create wireframes, low-fi and mid-fi concepts, and interactive prototypes for web and React Native mobile
- Work with Product Managers to shape discovery, problem statements and jobs to be done framework
- Translate research, feedback and data into actionable UX improvements
- Collaborate closely with Engineering to ensure high-quality implementation (design intent held through dev)
- Conduct usability testing and customer interviews to validate concepts
- Contribute to, evolve, and maintain Oak's Design System with consistent patterns and components
- Advocate for accessibility, clarity, simplicity and product quality at every stage
About You
- 5+ years of UX or Product Design experience (SaaS, mobile-first, or complex digital products ideal)
- Strong capability in journey mapping, wireframing and prototyping tools (Figma preferred)
- Experience designing for mobile apps (React Native is a bonus)
- A portfolio demonstrating user-centric design, problem solving and clear reasoning
- Comfortable operating in discovery as well as solution design
- Able to simplify complexity and advocate for user needs across multiple personas and industries
- Clear communicator who thrives in cross-functional collaboration
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, product-led environment
Why Join Oak
- Be part of a scaling SaaS company with huge market opportunity
- Work on a product used by global brands to engage thousands of employees
- Ownership, autonomy and real influence on the product direction
- Hybrid working, flexible culture, supportive leadership
- Personal development, L&D, and career progression opportunities
- Collaborative, friendly team doing impactful work
Please add a cover letter, including your portfolio to your application.
Stage 1: CV & Portfolio Review & Online Interview
We'll review your CV and portfolio to understand your experience, the products you've worked on, and how you tackle UX problems. We're particularly interested in end-to-end case studies that show how you defined the problem, the decisions you made, and the impact of your work.
In this session, we'll explore your experience, discuss a couple of portfolio pieces, and give you time to ask about Oak, the product, and our ways of working. We'll be focusing on your thinking process, how you collaborate, and how you approach complex, real-world UX challenges.
Stage 2: Task (max 1 hour) + In-Person Interview
Before the onsite, we'll send you a short UX task that should take no more than 1 hour. The brief will present a complex UX problem similar to what we tackle at Oak. We'll ask you to create a wireframe (or small set of frames) and capture your reasoning.
In the in-person interview, you'll walk us through:
- How you understood and framed the problem
- The trade-offs and options you considered
- Why you landed on your chosen solution
- How you'd iterate with user feedback and constraints
We aim to move quickly and keep candidates updated at each stage. If you require any adjustments to the process, please let us know — we're happy to accommodate.
Equality & Diversity at Oak
At Oak, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome, supported, and able to thrive.
We believe that different perspectives make us stronger, and we actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities — including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.

If you require any adjustments to the interview process or the role itself to support accessibility, please let us know — we're happy to help.
