Managing Director
Location: Sydney - Hybrid
Reports to: CEO and Board
The Opportunity:
A venture-backed AI firm seeks a commercially exceptional Managing Director to write the next chapter of its growth and market influence.
The business operates at the intersection of data and AI, delivering complex, high-value programs for major enterprises. Technical depth is a real differentiator. Senior leaders across engineering, delivery, alliances, and solutions are already in place; demand is rising, and the team is well-positioned to scale.
What's needed now is a Managing Director who can rev up the commercial engine, sharpen the story in market, and build a national go-to-market playbook that accelerates revenue, deepens partnerships, and drives consistent executive-level engagement.
What you’ll own:
- Commercial growth strategy across target industries, with a focus on Financial Services, Insurance, Energy and Utilities, and Retail
- Leadership of Partners and Industry Leads to originate, shape, and close complex enterprise AI programs.
- Direct involvement in major pursuits, from opening C-suite conversations to negotiating and closing multi-million-dollar deals
- Expansion and deepening of alliances with AWS, Microsoft, Google, Databricks, Snowflake, and others
- Oversight of co-sell, co-deliver, and co-market programs in partnership with the Alliances Director
- Alignment of the executive team, including Partners, Alliances Director, CTO, CMO, Head of Delivery, and Industry Leads
- Creation of a high-energy, outcome-focused culture that rewards initiative, excellence, and collaboration.
- Market presence as a visible thought leader at events, in the media, and inside key industry networks
What you bring:
- Senior executive or Partner-level experience from a tier one tech consultancy or specialist AI firm
- Proven success scaling a services organisation, owning a P&L, and hitting commercial targets.
- Ability to personally drive $10M+ in annual sales through enterprise relationships
- Extensive Australian enterprise network with deep credibility across CIO, CDO, COO, CMO and transformation stakeholders
- Experience shaping and closing complex Data, AI or large-scale transformation programs
- Strong commercial fluency—pricing, negotiation, deal structuring, and alliance leverage
- Credibility within hyperscaler ecosystems (AWS, Microsoft, Google, Databricks, Snowflake)
- Leadership style that builds belief, energy, ownership, and delivers excellence across senior teams
- Able to operate as both a commercial strategist and an execution-focused builder—creating structure, rhythm, and capability in a scaling environment
