Key areas of responsibility:

• Market Surveillance: Monitor daily trading activities across all asset classes to detect suspicious or abnormal market behavior that may indicate market abuse or manipulation.
• Trade Monitoring: Analyse market data, trading patterns, and relevant information to detect anomalies and suspicious activities.
• Investigation and Reporting: Investigate and escalate potential instances of market abuse, insider trading, or manipulation to the appropriate internal stakeholders, including compliance and legal teams.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant market abuse regulations such as the EU Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and other applicable local and international financial market rules.
• Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs): Prepare and submit timely, detailed reports on identified suspicious activities to senior management, regulatory bodies, and other authorities as necessary.
• Collaboration with Compliance Teams: Work closely with the compliance, legal, and risk teams to ensure all market abuse monitoring processes are effective and in line with regulatory expectations.
• Market Abuse Alerts: Analyze and assess alerts generated by surveillance systems, prioritize investigations based on risk and severity, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of surveillance activities, investigations, and reports to ensure a clear audit trail and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Regulatory Updates: Stay updated on changes to market abuse regulations, surveillance technology, and industry best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant with the latest legal requirements.
• Training and Guidance: Provide support and training to internal stakeholders on market abuse regulations and surveillance best practices to enhance overall awareness and compliance.

Technical Competencies and Skills:

• Market Expertise: In-depth knowledge of trading, order book reading, market surveillance, compliance, and risk management within cryptocurrency and/or traditional finance assets. Thorough understanding of market structures, trading strategies, and regulatory frameworks, including the EU Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and other relevant financial market laws.
• Analytical Prowess: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data and identify irregularities. Ability to detect abnormal trading patterns and behaviors indicative of market manipulation or insider trading.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for conveying findings and insights on trading terminologies in a clear and concise manner.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using surveillance tools, market surveillance systems, trade monitoring software, data analytics, and market data feeds.
• Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail, crucial for identifying potential market abuses and irregularities. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
