Lead Generative AI Engineer

A rapidly growing organisation is seeking a GenAI Lead Engineer to spearhead the development of cutting-edge AI systems, including multi-agent architectures, generative applications, RAG pipelines, and advanced language technologies.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and development of advanced NLP and generative AI models.
• Architect scalable AI systems and guide technical decision-making.
• Mentor and support AI engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture.
• Collaborate with product teams, AI leadership, and developers to shape project requirements.
• Integrate emerging AI research and techniques into real-world solutions.
• Drive performance optimisation, reliability, and MLOps best practices.
• Build and maintain containerised AI back-end services (e.g., Docker, FastAPI).
• Produce clear documentation and uphold engineering best practices.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English (French is a plus).
• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, NLP, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in NLP and generative AI development.
• Deep expertise with transformer models, embeddings, and LLM fine-tuning.
• Proficiency in Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
• Experience leading AI/ML teams or technical initiatives.
• Solid knowledge of software engineering principles and cloud deployment (Azure or similar).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum workflows.

Nice-to-Haves

• Open-source AI/NLP contributions
• Strong GitHub portfolio or Kaggle involvement
• Experience deploying large-scale LLMs in production
• Publications in relevant AI/ML/NLP conferences
• Background in sectors such as retail, finance, manufacturing, or data quality
• Expertise in multilingual NLP
