An exciting opportunity to join our client's team at an European family-owned IT company delivering end-to-end digital solutions, services & consultancy, as a Support Engineer – Network & Security.
Main objectives
Ensure the stability, performance, and security of customer network infrastructures through expert technical support, proactive maintenance, and continuous operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- As a Support Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the stability, performance, and security of our customers’ network infrastructures.
- Deliver second-line operational support for diverse network and security environments.
- Perform advanced technical analyses, configurations, and implementations across multi-vendor technologies.
- Take and analyze packet captures (PCAPs) to identify root causes — or be eager to learn this essential troubleshooting skill.
- Perform planned changes outside of standard business hours when required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, procedures, and technical guidelines.
- Availability & Rotation
- After your onboarding period participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation (approximately 6 weeks per year) and from time to time participate in planned activities outside standard business hours, such as upgrades, migrations, or other scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Additionally, take part in a rotational availability schedule until 19:00, ensuring customers receive high-quality support during extended service hours.
- Work within flexible hours between 7:00 and 18:00 to support customer operations effectively.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a Networking or Security role.
- After your onboarding period, you’re able to work independently, taking initiative and applying a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.A Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent through practical experience.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals — this is required.
- CCNA and NSE4 (or equivalent) certifications are a must. Additional certifications such as CCNP, NSE5, F5 are a plus.
- Knowledge and/or interest in Switching, Routing, Firewalling, VPN, Load Balancing, and Wireless.
- Familiarity with Fortinet, Palo Alto, F5, Cisco, Meraki, and Aruba technologies.
- Fluent English (Dutch/French is a plus).
