Human Factors and Digital Products - HMI Designer Team Member
- The Human Factors and Digital Products - HMI Designer is a creative, curious, and detail-oriented team member who focuses on delivering intuitive and user-centered Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for in-car systems which including commercial vehicles LCV, MCV, HCV, and BEVs(Battery Electric Vehicles). This role focuses on enhancing driver productivity, safety, and comfort by creating intuitive, reliable, and industry-leading infotainment and instrument cluster interfaces.
- In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams of designers, engineers, and researchers to design, prototype, and implement innovative solutions for digital touchpoints across the entire user journey. You will actively contribute to research, concept development, and the creation of functional prototypes to ensure alignment with user needs and business goals.
You will:
- Design and implement user interfaces (UI) of infotainment and digital instrument clusters that are visually appealing, functional, and aligned with user experience (UX) best practices.
- Collaborate on the development of multi-modal interaction concepts (voice, touch, gesture) and information architectures for infotainment and driver information systems.
- Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and animations to visualize and test concepts at varying levels of fidelity.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights into user behavior and refine designs iteratively.
- Ensure that designs align with accessibility standards, comply with safety regulations, and minimize driver distraction.
- Stay up-to-date about industry trends and regulations for passenger and commercial vehicles and integrate them into HMI designs.
Experience
- Experience in UI/UX design, preferably within the automotive industry, with a focus on commercial vehicles (e.g., LCV, MCV, HCV).
- Proven experience in designing interfaces for infotainment systems and digital instrument clusters.
- Hands-on experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, engineers, and product managers.
- Familiarity with MVP approaches for prototyping HMI systems tailored to the needs of fleet operators and truck drivers.
- Proficiency in building wireframes, prototypes, and animations to communicate design concepts effectively.
- A portfolio showcasing HMI designs for passenger/commercial or heavy-duty vehicles, including examples of multi-modal interaction and driver productivity/assistance tools.
Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design/ Industrial Product Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Interdisciplinary backgrounds (e.g., engineers with design experience or designers with technical skills) are also welcome.
Behavioral Skills and Competencies
