Software Development Director
We are currently seeking a Software Development Director for one of the leading software development companies in the market renowned for delivering cutting-edge solutions to global clients across diverse industries.
The Software Development Director is expected to be a a visionary who can drive an innovative software development approach, align development processes with company objectives and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Define the long-term vision for software development aligned with the company's strategic goals, product portfolio vision and market trends.
- Collaborate with Product Management, UX/UI, and other stakeholders to develop and execute technology roadmaps.
- Oversee the expansion and scalability of technology platforms, ensuring the capability to meet evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to define and prioritize product development objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Technical Oversight:
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and guide the adoption of the most appropriate solutions across a very diverse technology stack.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, architectural guidelines, and development processes to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Oversee projects spanning a wide range of technologies, including front-end, back-end, cloud, DevOps, mobile, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML).
Project & Delivery Management
- Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of projects by implementing robust project management practices.
- Proactively identify and address project risks, resource constraints, and technical challenges.
Process Optimization
- Promote Agile and DevOps practices to enhance collaboration, speed, and efficiency.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize workflows, tools, and processes to improve productivity and quality.
- Develop and manage KPIs to measure team performance, delivery success, and product quality.
Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
- Ensure that all products meet the highest quality standards through rigorous testing and validation processes.
- Implement best practices for product quality, security, and compliance.
Financial & Resource Management
- Develop and manage budgets for the software development function, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Allocate resources efficiently to meet business priorities without compromising on quality or timelines.
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage, mentor, and motivate large scale software development teams, including software engineers, team leads, and technical managers.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top-tier talent while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Define and refine team structures to optimize delivery efficiency, scalability, and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant Engineering field
- Minimum of 17 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing large-scale teams.
- Proven experience managing projects across multiple technology stacks, preferably including but not limited to Java and .NET
- Hands-on experience in delivering large-scale, complex software systems with a focus on quality, scalability, and reliability.
- Strong track record of implementing Agile, Scrum, and DevOps practices.
- In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycle, architecture design, and modern software engineering practices.
- Proficiency in cloud technologies and microservices architecture.
- Strong awareness of emerging technologies like AI, ML, and blockchain.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and manage large scale, diverse teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with an emphasis on data-driven insights.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organized with an aptitude for prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, well-suited to a fast-paced and ever-changing business environment.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Very good written and verbal communication skills in English.
