About the Role
This UI/UX Designer position is a part-time, remote opportunity focused on crafting intuitive and visually compelling digital experiences for a leading banking firm. The role is suited for a mid-level professional with a strong background in designing user interfaces and optimizing user journeys for financial products and services. The designer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that digital banking platforms are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly usable, accessible, and compliant with industry standards, directly impacting customer satisfaction and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and refine user interfaces for web and mobile banking applications, ensuring consistency with the firm's brand guidelines and visual identity.
- Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights and inform design decisions tailored to banking customers.
- Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard design tools to communicate design concepts effectively.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into seamless user experiences.
- Ensure all digital products meet accessibility standards (such as WCAG) and are optimized for users with diverse needs and abilities.
- Analyze user feedback and behavioral data to identify pain points and propose actionable design improvements for banking workflows.
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, style guides, and component libraries to support scalable and consistent product development.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in fintech UI/UX, incorporating best practices and innovative solutions relevant to digital banking.
- Participate in remote design reviews and agile ceremonies, providing clear rationale for design choices and iterating based on team feedback.
Required Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing digital product work, preferably in the financial or banking sector.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and InVision, with the ability to create both low- and high-fidelity deliverables.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design for complex transactional systems.
- Experience designing for responsive web and native mobile platforms, with attention to cross-device consistency and usability.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, ensuring inclusive design for all users.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present design concepts and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with agile development processes and remote collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Jira, Miro).
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret user data and feedback to drive iterative design improvements.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering polished, production-ready assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field is preferred.
- Additional certifications in UX/UI design, usability, or accessibility are advantageous.
- Prior experience working with financial institutions or regulated industries is highly valued.
