Parento is the first provider for paid parental leave, distributing the first and only paid parental leave insurance and parental support program. They are seeking a driven Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team, focusing on developing and maintaining scalable backend services and enhancing frontend interfaces for their customer-facing web portal.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services that power an enterprise customer portal using PHP and the Laravel framework.
Build and enhance frontend interfaces using Tailwind CSS and VueJS, ensuring responsive, user-friendly design.
Collaborate closely with our product manager, designers, VP of Engineering, and other internal stakeholders to turn requirements into robust features
Work on SaaS-based architecture, helping optimize performance, maintainability, reliability and scalability.
Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and system design discussions. Comfortable using AI code-generation tools (Cursor AI, Claude, Copilot, etc.)
Assist in integrating, training and applying machine learning algorithms or big data pipelines to production workflows
Contribute to improving the developer experience, CI/CD processes, and internal tools that help with developer productivity
Qualifications
Solid proficiency in PHP, Laravel, and VueJS
Academic or hands-on experience working on SaaS products and web portals
Exposure to or interest in big data processing and machine learning concepts
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), REST APIs, and databases like MySQL or MariaDB
Familiarity with analytics tools such as Metabase
Familiarity with a cloud-based architecture that spans multiple public clouds (AWS, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud)
Excellent written communication skills (we collaborate a LOT on email & Slack)
Prior freelance or full-time work experience in Fintech or InsurTech industries
Certification on using any public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
Experience with data pipelines or ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Spark)
Comfortable working on WordPress and CMS platforms like Statamic or Ghost
