Job Description

These roles are for Senior Software Engineer to work primarily on Research and Development projects in the tactical communication domain. This role will entail requirements elicitation, design, peer reviews, implementation, test and delivery for projects of differing maturity levels from prototypes to production quality.

This role requires working collaboratively with other engineers from several functions that are developing and maintaining the currently deployed system. In addition to Research and Development projects this role occasionally requires developing and supporting the underlying product software.

Typical Responsibilities Include

  • Analyse requirements, design, implement and test software subsystem components, validating designs against requirements and assumptions.
  • Work proactively with System Engineering and specialist areas to ensure software design and implementation meet requirements, including security, safety, and human factors considerations.
  • Capture software design and modelling using OO MBSE, and investigate and debug software integration issues on target hardware and software environments.
  • Identify and document specification and interface changes, supporting product and integration testing, including on-site customer demonstrations when required.
  • Drive best practice and continuous improvement in software development processes.

Essential

  • Strong Microsoft Windows Platform development experience including a good understanding of Windows Operating System architecture, development frameworks, services, and security features
  • Recent experience developing C# (including WPF and .Net) software applications or Windows components and services within a software team, with Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft frameworks and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with/ experience of containerisation and virtualisation strategies and their applications; preferably with hands on experience.
  • Experience of full development lifecycle

Additional Information

Salary for this position is £45,600 to £60,000 depending on experience plus our excellent flexible benefits package.

We offer hybrid working - for this role ideally we are looking for an average of 2 days per week per month on site.
