Junior AI Engineer / Developer – Master’s Graduate Role

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £70,000 + Equity

Start Date: ASAP

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an ambitious and intellectually curious Junior AI Engineer / Developer to join a fast-growing company operating at the forefront of AI compliance, governance, and risk management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Master’s graduate from a top-tier university who is eager to apply their academic and project experience to building real-world AI systems that are safe, compliant, and trustworthy.

You’ll work closely with experienced AI engineers, data scientists, and product specialists to design, build, and deploy AI and LLM-driven applications on AWS that help organisations comply with emerging AI regulations, including model risk, auditability, and responsible AI practices.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing, developing, and deploying machine learning and AI models used in compliance and risk workflows on AWS
  • Building LLM applications (e.g. GPT, LLaMA, Claude) that automate policy checks, documentation, and audit trails
  • Implementing end-to-end AI workflows: from data acquisition, cleaning, and feature engineering to model training, deployment, and monitoring
  • Developing scalable pipelines and APIs for AI services using AWS-native infrastructure (e.g. Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, SageMaker/Bedrock)
  • Building and maintaining TypeScript-based services and UIs that integrate with Python AI backends and compliance tooling
  • Embedding guardrails, monitoring, and logging into AI systems to support transparency, explainability, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with engineers, product, and compliance experts to deliver robust, production-ready solutions for regulated industries (e.g. finance, healthcare, enterprise SaaS)
  • Contributing to internal R&D on AI safety, evaluation, and governance, and staying current with advancements in AI and AI regulation

What We’re Looking For:

  • A recently completed Master’s degree from a top-tier university (e.g. Oxbridge, Imperial, UCL, or other leading Russell Group) in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated project experience (academic research, dissertation work, internships, or personal projects) applying machine learning or AI techniques
  • Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript (this is essential)
  • Experience with common Python data/ML libraries (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy)
  • Experience building or contributing to TypeScript codebases (e.g. Node.js backends, React frontends, or internal tools)
  • Hands-on exposure to AWS (e.g. EC2, S3, IAM; bonus points for Lambda, ECS/EKS, SageMaker, or Bedrock)
  • Familiarity with LLM frameworks and tooling (e.g. LangChain, vector databases, RAG pipelines) is highly advantageous
  • Genuine interest in AI compliance, governance, and emerging regulation (e.g. EU AI Act, model risk, responsible AI)
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for building practical, scalable AI solutions
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Full right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role)

Benefits:

💰 Competitive Salary & Equity: Up to £70,000 + meaningful equity participation

🏡 Hybrid Working: Modern central London office with flexibility to work remotely

📈 Career Growth: Direct mentorship from senior AI engineers and founders, clear progression in a high-growth AI compliance company

🛠 Modern Tech Stack on AWS: Work with cutting-edge LLMs, MLOps tooling, Python, TypeScript, and an AWS-native cloud stack

🤝 Collaborative Culture: Join a supportive, mission-driven team passionate about safe and responsible AI

Additional Perks: Pension scheme, private healthcare, regular team events, and wellbeing initiatives
