Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to support long term backend development projects. The position is primarily remote, with periodic on site presence in Helsinki for key meetings and workshops.

The ideal candidate is a senior level Java engineer with strong backend experience, modern frameworks expertise, and solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend development using Java across legacy EJB components and modern Java versions
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot
• Apply object oriented design principles, design patterns, and development best practices
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical solution design
• Work with cross functional teams following Waterfall, Agile, or Scrum depending on project needs
• Implement CI CD pipelines and maintain containerised components
• Support integration work with frontend teams using modern Typescript based frameworks
• Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and documentation

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Java backend development
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and modern Java versions
• Good expertise with object oriented programming and design patterns
• Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and microservices
• Knowledge of Docker, Redis, MongoDB, and CI CD tooling
• Experience with Git or similar version control systems
• Familiarity with a Typescript based frontend framework such as React, Vue or Angular
• Understanding of Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum delivery methodologies
• EU citizenship
• Finnish bilingual level and strong command of English
