BDO Ireland, one of the world’s leading accountancy and advisory organisations, currently has a consultant position available within our Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit group.
We are looking for suitably qualified computer science, engineering, or science professionals to work with some of the most technologically innovative companies in Ireland across a wide range of sectors. The role is an excellent mix of science, engineering, and business.
This role will suit candidates who enjoy technical discussions, scientific writing, and are confident in their ability to analyse and clearly communicate complex information. The position will further provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop an understanding of the financial and technical aspects of business, as well as the impact of the R&D Tax Credit Regime on businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the examination of client operations and processes to determine which qualify for tax incentives, developing the appropriate methodology to claim those activities and the methods to maximise those incentives
- Coordinating the planning, organisation and execution of the technical portion of engagements, including interviewing of technical and financial personnel.
- Assisting the assessment of R&D expenditures, time and activities involved within all of the projects
- The preparation of all necessary technical documentation as required by legislation and Revenue Guidelines
- Working with the client to help them develop their systems and know-how to assist in making future claims
- Client assistance in certain discussions / audits that may arise with the Revenue Commissioners
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related disciplines, 2.1 result preferably
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
- Demonstrated report writing and presentation skills
- Ability to quickly absorb and understand numerous technical concepts and translate these into technical reports
- Knowledge of the R&D tax credit regime would be useful but is not essential
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Advanced skills in MS Office environment (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook), familiarity with the MS Office 365 suite would be advantageous
