About the opportunity:
As an APSP6 Cyber Security Specialist, you will provide specialist advice and technical expertise to support the cyber advisory section. Your role involves managing security policies, contributing to cybersecurity initiatives, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and frameworks.
You will play a critical role in strategic planning and policy development, ensuring that the organisation's cybersecurity posture is resilient and adaptive to emerging threats.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage and update the Cyber Incident Response Register in line with privacy laws.
- Collaborate with the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and produce key security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSP) and Security Risk Management Plans (SRMP).
- Develop security policies, standards, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and robust cybersecurity practices.
- Provide expert analysis of cyber risks, oversee the Information Security Management System (ISMS), and offer guidance on threat intelligence and security architecture.
- Conduct security architecture reviews, cyber risk assessments, and compliance reporting (e.g., Essential Eight, PSPF).
- Maintain stakeholder relationships to enhance cyber resilience and ensure open communication.
- Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats and implement appropriate measures.
- Support security awareness, continuous improvement, and compliance with standards such as ISO 27001 and PSPF.
You will have demonstrated the following experience:
- Building productive working relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration across the organisation.
- Providing subject matter expertise, driving compliance with the PSPF, Essential Eight, ISO 27001 and relevant legislation.
- Delivering, and implementing prioritised requests to ensure the best outcomes for the Commission, aligning with quality and operational support standards.
- Taking ownership and accountability for your assigned area of responsibility, ensuring work is performed according to agreed standards.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of cyber frameworks, legislation, policies, and procedures.
- The ability to assess complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
- A proactive approach to identifying and addressing security risks, ensuring that the organisation's information assets are protected.
- Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and commit to professional development.
