The challenge

Food suppliers handle thousands of requests each year from customers, auditors, and retailers.

These requests ask how products are made, where they come from, and whether they meet food safety or sustainability standards.

Responding quickly and accurately is essential for daily operations. Many teams still spend hours searching across systems, retyping information into Excel, Word, or online portals. Their customers are waiting for answers.

Once the information is shared, it often disappears into folders, files, and inboxes.

The solution

Passionfruit automates answering customer questionnaires and data requests.

The platform collects the correct information, handles repetitive steps, and delivers it in the exact format customers require. It works inside Excel, Word, and browsers without introducing new tools for the end user. Thousands of requests move through our system each month.

We detect patterns, fill in answers automatically, and highlight missing data. This gives food suppliers the ability to serve more customers, with better data, without increasing team size.

We deploy multiple times per month, review all code, and keep engineering practices straightforward. The focus is on building systems that remain clear, durable, and easy to maintain.

What you will do

• Design and build reliable, scalable services for our core platform
• Work across the stack, from back-end logic to integrations in Office and browsers
• Develop AI-powered workflows that process documents, suggest answers, and fill in forms
• Structure and manage data to support accurate, fast responses
• Collaborate directly with customers to understand problems and ship solutions quickly
• Contribute to engineering standards, architecture, and product direction as we grow

Who you are

• 5+ years of engineering experience
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis (Big-O notation).
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., TypeScript).
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining backend services, APIs, or microservices.
• Skilled in building and shipping full-stack products (React/Next.js + Node.js or similar)
• Strong preference for simplicity able to reduce complexity and write clear, minimal, high-impact code.
• Curious about AI and practical in applying it
• Communicate clearly in English; Dutch is a plus
• Like working in small fast pacing teams with autonomy and responsibility
