Cloud Operations and Compliance Lead
We are representing a Norwegian medtech company that develop and deliver an advanced, cloud-based platform for neurosurgical imaging to some of the world's most prestigious hospitals and research institutions in the USA. With further plans of growing in Europe and globally.
Think of this as essentially being the post-processing software which actually provides the images that neurosurgeons see on the screen after the scans are done.
This platform has been developed in collaboration with leading institutions such as Stanford, Harvad and MD Anderson, so you can be certain that this is very serious product that really does improve the outcomes of difficult neurosurgeries (such as the removal of brain tumours).
Your role
You will have overall responsibility for the technical operations, security, and global delivery of the cloud platform (AWS) as well as the on-premise solutions.
This is a strategic key role where you will lead the implementation of new security standards, act as a technical expert for customers, and have some responsibility for junior engineers working in the US.
You will also have the possibility to grow in this position and assume more senior positions down the line. This is still a smaller company at this point with much of its growth phase ahead, meaning more potential growth avenues for you.
Location:
This position will be based in Forskningsparken, Oslo, with a hybrid working scheme (3 days in office, 2 home) being offered. You will have a couple of colleagues initially in the office, but with the plans to grow as they acquire and onboard more customers which will require them to grow the internal team.
Responsibilities
Leadership in Security and Compliance:
- Lead and implement security and compliance frameworks, with an initial focus on ISO 27001 for the European market.
- Responsible for maintaining and further developing existing certifications, such as SOC 2 Type II in the USA, and leading security audits.
- Own and manage the Incident Response Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, including leading incident management and conducting tests.
Operational Responsibility and Management:
- Ensure maximum uptime and performance for our cloud-based and on-premise solutions globally.
- Define, measure, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as customer onboarding time, system availability, and incident resolution time.
- Own the technical relationship with third-party cloud service providers (primarily AWS).
- In collaboration with the Tech Lead and DevOps engineers, design and approve the overall technical architecture to ensure scalability and security.
Leadership and Team Development:
- Have line management responsibility for a junior cloud engineer based in the USA.
- Act as a mentor and technical leader within your area of responsibility.
- Actively contribute to building and shaping the new software team in Oslo and defining future operational processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in Cloud Operations, DevOps, SRE, IT security, or a similar technical role.
- Documented experience in implementing and managing compliance standards such as SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001, including working with external auditors.
- Strong technical understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and scalable SaaS architectures. AWS experience is a strong merit.
- Experience from a regulated industry, such as medical technology, life science, or healthcare (e.g., ISO 13485, HIPAA, MDR) is meriting but NOT a requirement.
- Fluency in English
