Fireslug Studios is starting work on new projects and wants to bolster the team in preparation.

Note: Fireslug Studios is currently in a pre-funding stage, and our entire team is working remotely on a voluntary basis. We hope to offer paid in-house or freelance roles once we secure funding or on successful project release. We provide references and opportunities for portfolio development to those looking to build a career in the wider industry. Additionally, we arrange for sharing elements of your contributions professionally, subject to our non-disclosure agreement (NDA), regardless of the project’s completion state.


Responsibilities:

  • Asset Production: Create high quality 3D art assets for environments and props ensuring all artwork aligns with the visual style and creative direction outlined in the documentation.
  • Integrate Completed Art Assets: Participate in the integration of finalised art assets using Git and Unity, ensuring they are correctly implemented.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with game designers, programmers and other artists to ensure there is consistency across asset contributions.
  • Participate in Feedback Cycles: Contribute on visual direction and provide feedback on the overall aesthetic of the project, ensuring design goals are met.


Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience as a 3D artist, with a strong portfolio showcasing high quality game art.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software, or equivalents. (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, ZBrush, etc.)
  • Proficient in creating high quality textures that align with the models while respecting the visual direction of the game.
  • Proficiency with UV unwrapping and optimisation for game-ready assets.
  • Basic understanding of the Unity game engine.
  • Strong understanding of environmental storytelling, composition, and colour theory.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and iteratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills for regular interaction with cross-functional teams.


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience using industry standard techniques such as Modular Kits, Trim Sheets, SubD Workflow, etc.
  • Experience with Unity Material set ups and Shaders.
  • Experience in 3D animation and Rigging.
  • Experience implementing animations in Unity.
  • Familiarity with version control software, such as Git or BitBucket.
  • Previous experience with project management software such as Trello, Jira, ClickUp etc.


Commitment:

  • Minimum of 16 hours per week or equivalent contributions.
  • Able to attend and contribute to weekly meetings.
  • Available to respond to questions and queries during weekdays as needed with regards to availability.
