The Director line manages key Investment and Placement Services staff and supports the Regional Director in identifying and facilitating the development of innovative and proactive strategies for building the capacity of the region.

This includes linking with other government departments, non-government service providers and other stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery in accordance with departmental policy and guidelines of child protection services to clients and the community.

This is a temporary full time position between 22 December 2025 to 2 October 2006, with the possibility of extension. The primary location is Ipswich with a requirement to travel across the Region.

Your Mandatory Requirements

  • Formal tertiary qualifications are not mandatory but relevant human resources and management qualifications would be an advantage.
  • A ‘C' class drivers licence and the ability to travel extensively across and outside of the South West Region is a mandatory requirement of this role.


Your Responsibilities

As a Director of Partnership, Placement and Investment you will:

  • Undertake and coordinate high level analysis and provision of specialist advice on critical issues relevant to the delivery of services within the region that represent challenges to the effective delivery of services.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the delivery of placement and investment services and liaise with government partners regarding the suitability and timeliness to support children in the out of home care system.
  • Facilitate and foster engagement in government and community decision making by targeting groups such as young people, families and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other cultural groups.
  • Provide high level specialist advice to the Regional Director and senior management in relation to the range, extent and effectiveness of the placement service that are delivered to clients and their families and communities.
  • Support the Regional Director in the effective strategic management of human, financial and maintaining a culture of client service delivery and performance management.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring for Child Safety Service Centre managers on issues related to child protection placement practice.
  • Develop, design and monitor innovative strategies, program initiative and integrated systems approaches to enhance the delivery of Placement Services in line with strategic priorities and objectives of the Department, including systems that ensures accountability of expenditure, monitors placement capacity and human resource management.
  • Enhance the local regional community by actively practicing and promoting excellence in service delivery and public administration and identifying opportunities for improving regional client service.
