AI Engineer – 6-Month Contract | Melbourne

We’re looking for an AI Engineer to join a leading organisation in Melbourne on a 6-month contract. You’ll work across AI/ML development, MLOps, solution design, and application support within a modern Azure-based GenAI environment.

What You’ll Do

• Build and deploy AI/ML solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Studio, Cognitive Search and Azure ML.
• Develop and support internal applications, delivering secure and scalable enhancements.
• Design, code, test, and ship high-quality software components across the SDLC.
• Collaborate with developers, testers, analysts, and business teams across multiple regions.
• Maintain and troubleshoot core applications, resolving issues quickly and proactively.
• Contribute to DevOps best practice: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerisation, and cloud automation.

What You Bring

• 3+ years in Machine Learning / Data Science, plus 1–2 years in AI engineering or MLOps.
• Strong Python experience: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Pandas.
• Hands-on experience with OpenAI, Hugging Face, embeddings, fine-tuning, inference optimisation.
• Proven experience building RAG pipelines, vector search, and prompt engineering.
• Strong understanding of Azure integration and surrounding platform services.
• Experience with Postgres / SQL Server, Docker, and cloud-native engineering.
• Experience in GenAI on Azure is mandatory:
• Azure AI Foundry
• Azure OpenAI Service
• Azure AI Studio
• (Explicitly NOT Copilot Studio.)
