Job Title: HR Advisor (Freelance)

Location: Germany (Hybrid/Remote depending on business needs)

Contract: 12-month Freelance Contract

Hours: Part-time, approx. 2 days per week

Languages: Fluent German & English required

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to support our organisation on a part-time freelance basis. This role will be responsible for providing expert HR guidance across a range of people topics, with a strong focus on TUPE, employee relations, redundancy processes, and collaboration with the Works Council (Betriebsrat).

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys autonomy, variety, and partnering closely with the business to deliver practical solutions in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HR advisory support to managers and employees across Germany.
  • Lead and support TUPE/employee transfer processes, ensuring compliance with local labour laws.
  • Manage employee relations cases, including performance, conduct, grievance, and sickness.
  • Support and guide redundancy programmes and organisational change initiatives.
  • Maintain strong, effective communication and relationships with the Works Council (Betriebsrat), handling consultations and information-sharing as required.
  • Ensure HR processes comply with German employment legislation and internal policies.
  • Support HR projects and contribute to the development of HR practices and documentation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HR Advisor/HR Generalist within Germany.
  • Strong understanding of German employment law, particularly TUPE equivalents (Betriebsübergang), redundancy processes, and employee relations best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a Works Council (Betriebsrat).
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload flexibly, and deliver within agreed timeframes.
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English.
  • Experience working with international or matrix organisations is an advantage.
