Join an exciting project to create true first-person animations for a medieval fantasy RPG built in Unreal Engine 5.6. This role focuses on developing high-quality melee combat arcs and weapon animations for a variety of weapon types, including swords, maces, axes, spears, bows, and magical implements. The initial commission will be for a single weapon combo attack, with the potential for additional work based on project needs and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animation for games, particularly with Unreal Engine skeletons, and a passion for immersive, first-person gameplay experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement first-person melee combat animations for multiple weapon types
  • Create idle poses for both equipped and unequipped weapon states
  • Develop smooth and responsive combo attack sequences
  • Collaborate closely with the solo developer to ensure animations align with gameplay mechanics and artistic vision
  • Optimize animations for performance and integration within Unreal Engine 5.6
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving animation quality and player experience

Skills And Requirements

  • Proven experience creating first-person animations for Unreal Engine, preferably version 5 or higher
  • Strong understanding of melee combat animation arcs and timing
  • Familiarity with UE5 skeletons and animation blueprints
  • Ability to animate a variety of weapon types, including both melee and ranged (bows, magic)
  • Experience with idle pose creation for different weapon states
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Availability for a short-term commission with potential for follow-up work
