We are seeking a Product Owner with strong technical and business acumen to lead the evolution of our device management and control platform — a scalable system that connects, monitors, and controls a wide range of hardware devices across multiple industries.

This role bridges software and hardware: you will define product requirements for device integration and control capabilities, work closely with engineering teams to ensure feasibility, and support sales and pre-sales through product expertise, demos, and on-site engagements.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Required:

· 5+ years as a Product Owner/Manager in IoT, hardware/software integration, or industrial systems.

· Strong understanding of communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, Modbus, OPC-UA, BLE, TCP/IP, etc.).

· Experience in firmware update management, remote device control, and telemetry systems.

· Background with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

· Solid knowledge of Agile/Scrum and backlog tools (Jira, Aha!, Confluence).

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

· Fluent in English; Arabic/Hindi are a plus.

Preferred / Nice to Have:

· Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering.

· Certifications: CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, PMI-ACP.

· Experience with IoT gateways, edge computing, real-time control systems.

· Understanding of industrial communication standards and cybersecurity.

· Exposure to sales engineering, technical presales, or field roles.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Product Strategy & Ownership

·      Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the device integration and control layer of the platform.

·      Prioritize the product backlog to balance business goals, customer needs, and technical dependencies.

·      Partner with internal stakeholders (engineering, hardware, QA, operations, sales, and support) to ensure coherent product delivery.

·      Define KPIs around performance, uptime, device compatibility, and operational efficiency.

·      Drive continuous improvement of platform scalability, real-time responsiveness, and hardware-software communication.

Hardware & Device Control Responsibilities

·      Collaborate with hardware engineering teams to understand device architectures, interfaces, and control protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, BLE, Zigbee, etc.).

·      Own the requirements for device onboarding, provisioning, firmware management, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

·      Oversee device control workflows — configuration, remote commands, diagnostics, and live monitoring.

·      Define and validate hardware-software interaction layers, including drivers, SDKs, and API endpoints.

·      Work with QA and field teams to test new device integrations, ensure signal stability, and validate telemetry data accuracy.

·      Ensure compliance with industry standards and hardware safety protocols.

·      Manage the lifecycle of supported devices — from onboarding, certification, maintenance, to deprecation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·      Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.

·      Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, sprint review, retrospective, daily stand-ups).

·      Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability and observability for connected devices.

·      Align with cybersecurity teams to ensure secure communication, encryption, and device authentication.

·      Coordinate with UX/UI designers to improve visualization of device states, alerts, and control panels.

Sales Enablement & Field Support

·      Provide technical product support to the sales and pre-sales teams, helping translate platform capabilities into client value.

·      Participate in sales meetings, product demos, and industry events to present the platform and demonstrate live device control scenarios.

·      Conduct on-site visits to client locations to understand operational environments, gather feedback, and assist with pilot deployments.

·      Prepare technical documentation, product decks, and demo environments for business development activities.

·      Collaborate with marketing and sales enablement teams to develop case studies, feature briefs, and ROI analyses.

·      Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all device-related capabilities during the sales process and client onboarding.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Urbio is an European company headquartered in Romania and operating internationally in the fields of smart lighting, renewable energy, and urban digital transformation. We aim to build one of Romania’s first global, generational brands.

Our mission is to transform cities into intelligent, efficient, and sustainable ecosystems, through technology that is Made in Europe and built for the world.

Founded in 2013, Urbio has evolved from a local innovator into a trusted global provider of integrated Smart City and IoT solutions, delivering end-to-end systems that connect technology, infrastructure, and sustainability.

At the core of the group’s activity is engineering excellence — we design, develop, and manufacture our own smart lighting systems, control units, and digital platforms under the URBIO and NEOS brands. These proprietary technologies integrate AI-driven remote management, real-time data analytics, and IoT connectivity, enabling municipalities and private organizations to optimize energy use, streamline operations, and improve quality of life.

In the past 12 years, we’ve growth to over 200 staff globally, crossing $50,000 in annual turnover while lighting over 12,000 km of streets and highways, saving >$60M in electricity bills for our cities and bringing cutting edge technologies such as AI and OCR to governmental bodies.

The opening of Urbio Technologies in Dubai marks a strategic step in expanding our presence to the Middle East and Asia, regions that are rapidly embracing smart infrastructure. From our Dubai office, we serve as a hub for innovation, implementation, and regional partnerships, bridging European engineering expertise with the region’s vision for sustainable urban development.

Every product and software solution we deliver is a result of our in-house R&D, precision manufacturing, and commitment to continuous improvement — ensuring quality, performance, and longevity in every project.

Our Values:

The What, How effect? – We push boundaries and deliver where most feel it’s impossible. When we do it, we get the What, How from clients, competitors and even ourselves. And we do this daily!

Passion beyond ration! – We care about everything we do. Every screw, every light bulb, every line of code, email or conversation. We care to the points that sometimes, we get personally offended by the ignorance of others. Quality is a necessity. Passion is the pre-requisite

Great, next time better. - Speed of delivery is key. We are pragmatic and we value speed. But speed alone is worthless. Speed in iteration is everything. Thus we learn from every failure, every success, give direct feedback (good or bad) and improve across every aspect of both business and personality, together as Urbio and individually as people.

Get Shit Done – Forwarding emails with 10 people in CC is not the move here. If there is a solution within our control, we simply get it done. We prioritize decisive action. We prefer to ask for forgiveness rather than ask for permission. We get shit done!

URBIO Group – Connected to the needs of today. Inspiring the cities of tomorrow.
