Senior VFX Artist
We are seeking a Senior VFX Artist to contribute to an exciting new First Person Shooter project in development with a major publisher. This is a unique chance to join an independent studio working on a high-profile game that will reach millions of players worldwide.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has 3+ years of experience in real-time environments, and has worked on at least one published title, preferably AAA. This role requires expertise in Unreal Engine, with a focus on using Niagara to create impactful visual effects for characters, weapons, and environments.
Relocation to Galway, Ireland, is preferred, but remote work from a European timezone is possible for the right candidate. Please indicate your preference (remote, hybrid, or onsite) in your application.
Target Start Date: December 2024
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality real-time visual effects for characters, weapons, environments, and gameplay.
- Optimize visual effects for performance while maintaining visual standards.
- Manage pipelines and ensure assets are delivered on schedule.
- Collaborate with other departments to create and integrate VFX assets.
- Research and implement new techniques to improve VFX quality and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a VFX role within the games industry.
- Expertise in Unreal Engine, including its particle systems such as Niagara.
- Proven ability to create game-ready visual effects, from concept to final setup.
- Proficiency in Photoshop or similar 2D software.
- Familiarity with Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
- Creativity, commitment, and a strong portfolio or demo reel.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and openness to feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with shaders and materials in node-based editors like Unreal’s.
- Familiarity with Houdini for physics and dynamics simulations.
- Experience with version control systems like Perforce.
