Your Responsibilities

As Senior Java & Big Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and implementing robust Java applications with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Building and maintaining Kafka producers and consumers for real-time data streaming.
• Migrating and optimizing Spark applications from version 2 to 3, including Structured Streaming.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Ensuring code quality through thorough testing, validation, and performance tuning.

Mandatory Skills

You will have a solid understanding of:

• Core Java fundamentals: syntax, data types, control flow, OOP (inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, abstraction).
• Java Collections Framework (List, Set, Map, Queue).
• Exception handling and best practices.
• Multithreading, synchronization, and concurrent data structures.
• Kafka architecture: topics, partitions, brokers, producers, consumers.
• Writing Kafka producers/consumers in Java, including error handling and configuration.
• Spark 2 & 3: RDDs, DataFrames, Datasets, Spark SQL, Spark Streaming (DStreams), Structured Streaming.
• Migration from Spark 2 to 3: compatibility, code refactoring, dependency management, performance tuning.

Desirable Skills

Ideally, you will be familiar with:

• Kafka Connect and schema registry tools (e.g., Confluent Schema Registry).
• Real-time messaging and batch file transfer implementation.
• Pandas UDFs for vectorized operations in Spark.
• Adaptive Query Execution (AQE) in Spark 3.
• Data ingestion and storage from various sources and formats.
• Java EE (J2EE), SQL, Unix/Linux, MQ, WebSphere.
