Systems Engineer (Devops)

Role Summary:

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated deployment pipelines, infrastructure environments, and operational processes. The role combines technical expertise, collaboration, and continuous improvement to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. CI/CD & Automation

• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to streamline code integration, testing, deployment, and release.
• Automate configuration management, system updates, and routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce human error.

2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Design and manage infrastructure using code for improved consistency and version control.
• Develop and execute scripts for automated provisioning, configuration, and deployment.

3. Systems & Performance Optimization

• Monitor system, network, and application performance metrics.
• Identify bottlenecks, propose improvements, and optimize system performance.

4. Collaboration

• Work closely with software development, operations, IT security, and other internal teams to ensure stable and reliable software releases.
• Participate in cross-functional planning and operational improvements.

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Participate in internal and external audits and ensure adherence to compliance requirements.

6. Monitoring, Reporting & Incident Management

• Continuously track system performance and generate reports on uptime, issues, and trends.
• Respond quickly to incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.

7. On-Call Support

• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations and provide immediate support for critical system failures.

8. Additional Duties

• Support special IT projects, system upgrades, and initiatives as assigned by the Head of IT Operations or Deputy.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of network protocols and security concepts.
• Hands-on expertise in CI/CD pipelines, orchestration, automated provisioning, containerization, and cloud architectures.
• Experience with OpenShift is an asset.
• Strong networking fundamentals.
• Excellent documentation skills.

Languages

• Fluent in English and French.
• Additional languages are an advantage.
