Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Linux/Kubernetes)

Our client is a critically important European Institution with a focus on Data Centres & Private Cloud. Located in Luxembourg, it provides services around computing, virtualization, operating systems (Linux, Windows, Kubernetes), storage, and backup for IT professionals. These services support information systems of the institution in a 24/7 setup. The mission of the unit is to engineer, operate, and continually improve a reliable, cyber-resilient, and cost-effective Private Cloud.

Our client is now looking for a Senior Expert in Unix Operating System platforms to assist and oversee the Linux Hosting service and its evolution. The selected profile will cater for an integration within the overall service organisation, in particular with the Application Hosting layer in the context of the development of robust and secure.

Contract type: Freelancer, with an initial contract duration, renewed on a yearly basis based on performance for a total period of 48 months.

Location: Luxembourg City, with a required on-site office presence at the institution’s office

Key responsibilities:

• Provide expert technical assistance on Linux Hosting Services and related products or services (such as AI, networking, and Kubernetes) as required: technical guidance, troubleshooting, performance optimisation, governance, and monitoring.
• Manage diverse projects related to the day-to-day operations
• Participate in the formulation, planning, and definition of project requirements, liaise with stakeholders and internal customers, participate in requirements gathering and communicate results.
• Develop a deep understanding of internal business processes, oversee their continuous improvement and manage service reliability.
• Ensure quality of the external managed service project documentation, meeting minutes and other relevant documents and deliverables.
• Participate in and coordinate project meetings and related activities.
• Supervise services delivered within the external managed service portfolio.
• Ensure that the services delivered by the contractors are compliant with 3rd parties’ process/guidelines.
• Evaluate and implement security standards.
• The service provider will also be responsible for defining the strategy and future direction of the Linux Hosting Service as IT supporting service to other IT services and final Information Systems, including identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement, and developing business cases for new initiatives and investments.

Key requirements:

• Holding a Master’s degree in a relevant field is required
• Or alternatively, a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of combined working experience in the areas of IT Hosting Services delivery, IT Security, Networking and Virtualization.
• Language requirements include at least Level C1 or higher of in English.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in the area of Datacentre Infrastructure, OS management, Network, Storage, Virtualization and IT security are required for this role.
• Where more than 5 years experience on the delivery and supervision of IT hosting services with proved experience on the roll-out of infrastructures to support the delivery of AI platforms at scale.
• Experience on Kubernetes technology and DevOps paradigm.
• Experience on the supervision of external Managed Services and Data Centre Capacity Management.
• Experience on the application of Agile methodologies for the work’s organization.
• The following certifications are considered important for the preformence of the role:
• Linux Certified Systems Engineer (RedHat related certifications will be considered a plus).
• Cisco Certificate Network Associate.
• Eligible and willing to undergo an EU LEVEL SECRET security clearance.

• Including a technical questionnaire answering, consisting of 3 questions related to: 1) Capacity Planning in an LLMs platform. 2) a case proposal for the implementation of an IaC service for a Private Cloud. And 3) a security measures proposal case question.
