Backend & API Developer

At Smart, we’re looking for a Backend & API Developer to join our technical team and help design, build, and deliver high-quality backend services and APIs that power global, data-driven integrations.

💻 What it takes to be a SMART Backend & API Developer:

• Proven experience in backend development using .NET (C#)
• Strong understanding of Azure API Management (APIM)
• Solid experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with Azure cloud environments and CI/CD practices
• Knowledge of API security, versioning, authentication, and performance optimization
• Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Application Insights, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, etc.)
• Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Good communication skills in English — oral and written

🧰 Nice to Have:

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• Previous experience with Angular or frontend-integrated API workflows
• Understanding of distributed systems, caching strategies, and API gateway patterns

🎯 What you’ll do at Smart:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs in .NET, ensuring performance and scalability
• Build, configure, and manage Azure API Management (APIM) instances for global API deployments
• Publish, secure, and monitor APIs, including transformation, validation, caching, throttling, and authentication policies
• Collaborate closely with product, integration, and customer teams to support rollout of the Customer API and enable smart building integrations
• Ensure a consistent API lifecycle: design, documentation, testing, versioning, and deprecation
• Monitor and troubleshoot API performance using Azure Monitor and Application Insights
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for API delivery via Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Produce and maintain high-quality documentation and provide support to developers consuming Smart’s APIs
• Ensure API reliability, security, and long-term maintainability across all deliveries
