QA Engineer, Games

Overview

Arkadium is seeking an experienced QA Engineer to support one of our top clients, Microsoft, on a suite of top-performing games collaborating with the Microsoft Casual Games team.

The Microsoft Casual Games (MCG) Studio is focused on delivering the best casual games for Windows, Web, and Mobile platforms. Dedicated to delivering quality game experiences to worldwide fans. In this role you will be accountable for partnering with feature teams in day-to-day efforts, including the planning and execution of a modern and innovative quality strategy. You will interact with multidisciplinary teams to help shape the quality of the product by developing creative and collaborative solutions.

Candidates must be available to work standard hours from 09:00 to 18:00 in the Western European Time (WET) zone — (Portugal time zone), where most of the Engineering and Product teams are based.

Additionally, candidates must be open to occasionally working U.S. hours to accommodate key cross-timezone meetings.

For candidates not residing in Portugal, you will be onboarded as a contractor through our international payroll provider.

Responsibilities

• Conduct various types of manual testing of web projects, including acceptance, functional, integration, regression, and compatibility testing
• Analyze test results, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings effectively to relevant stakeholders
• Find, document, and track bugs, ensuring their timely resolution by coordinating with development and automation teams
• Collaborate closely with development and automation teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and efficient bug resolution
• Develop and implement quality strategies for key features and functionalities within the Microsoft Casual Games portfolio
• Monitor and communicate the quality status of products, along with ongoing quality efforts and team strategies, to leadership through various channels
• Coordinate priorities across manual testing, data, and software engineering teams to maximize the impact of shared deliverables
• Provide constructive feedback to improve the team's strategic capabilities and overall performance, cross domain
• Cultivate a culture of quality within the team, fostering a mindset that prioritizes quality in all aspects of product development and delivery
• Directly influence the QA processes and the delivery in the team
• Build and integrate automation tools/mechanisms in the SDLC
  
  

Nice to have

• Previous experience in development of automated tests (preferred);
• Previous experience with backend tests (API testing; stress and load testing; etc)
• Understanding of object-oriented programming;
• Knowledge and experience in security testing of Web projects (preferred);
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basics/syntax of one or more programming languages (C#, Java, Python, JavaScript) (preferred).
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent experience
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a QA Engineer
• Proficiency in front-end web testing and/or game testing
• Experience working within Scrum/Agile projects
• Strong knowledge of HTTP(S), JSON, XML, and RESTful services
• Familiarity with testing methodologies and experience with relevant tools
• Experience shipping software projects as part of a test or quality engineering team
• Experience web testing in multiple web platforms/cross-devices/screen orientations (web in mobile)
