Join Australia’s number one online furniture and homewares retailer and help define the future of our customer facing experience. As our Storefront Frontend Lead, you will shape the technical direction of our storefront and guide the engineering approach that supports millions of customers across Australia. This is a central role within our multi year transformation as we move from a long standing monolithic platform to a modern, high performing and scalable architecture.
You will work across all squads within the Storefront Tribe and partner closely with our Team to align technical ambition with product outcomes. This is a rare opportunity to influence how a major ecommerce brand evolves its technology, performance and customer experience.
If you enjoy solving complex problems, leading engineers, and delivering modern frontend architecture at scale, this is a role with real impact and visibility.
What You Will Do
- Own the technical direction and architecture for the Temple & Webster storefront
- Guide engineering standards across all storefront squads and support cross squad alignment
- Partner with the Storefront Tribe Lead to co develop a roadmap that unites business goals with technical feasibility
- Champion best practice in performance, accessibility, maintainability and frontend quality
- Mentor engineers of all levels and contribute to capability uplift across the tribe
- Drive the use of component based design, shared libraries and design system integration
- Oversee performance optimisation, rendering strategies and frontend deployment on modern tooling
- Lead governance around coding standards, linting, branch strategy and CI or CD pipelines
- Work closely with product, design and engineering leadership to support successful delivery and sequencing
- Ensure the storefront remains modern, scalable and ahead of ecommerce innovation
- Extensive experience architecting and leading large scale React and Next JS applications
- Deep understanding of frontend performance, server side rendering and static site generation
- Strong working knowledge of TypeScript, modern JavaScript and tooling such as Webpack, Vite and Babel
- Experience with Tailwind CSS or similar styling frameworks and CSS architecture
- Skills in component based design, design systems and shared libraries
- Familiarity with headless CMS integrations, GraphQL or REST APIs and micro frontend approaches
- Solid understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and SEO best practice for ecommerce
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Lighthouse, Sentry or New Relic
- A background in mentoring and leading cross functional engineering teams
- Confident communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
You are a strategic and forward thinking technologist who cares deeply about building robust, scalable and elegant frontend systems. You enjoy coaching others, guiding architectural decisions and creating alignment across teams. You communicate clearly, collaborate well and are motivated by delivering high quality customer facing experiences.
You stay curious, enjoy exploring emerging frontend trends and look for ways to innovate while keeping performance and reliability at the centre of your decisions.
Why You Will Love It Here
- Hybrid working with Mondays and Fridays from home
- Beautiful St Peters office with a supportive and high energy culture
- Generous discounts across all furniture and homewares
- Paid birthday leave and inclusive parental leave
- Catered lunch three days a week and subsidised coffee from our in house barista
