About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing international crypto-fintech operating in a highly regulated environment (VASP / EMI / Payment Institution). As part of its European expansion, the company is reinforcing its Compliance function in Luxembourg to support MiCA-readiness, strengthen its financial crime framework, and enhance regulatory governance.
You will join a multicultural, high-velocity organisation at the intersection of payments, blockchain, and digital asset regulation, where compliance is seen as a strategic enabler.
Position Overview
To support its regulatory growth, the company is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer (2nd Line of Defence) to join its Luxembourg office.
Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance Europe, you will play a central role in:
- strengthening the MiCA-compliant compliance framework,
- enhancing Financial Crime controls,
- supporting licensing and regulatory engagements,
- and contributing to group-wide strategic compliance initiatives.
This function sits within a crypto-native environment, with daily interactions across engineering, AML operations, product, and global compliance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance (MiCA, VASP, PSD2, DORA)
- Contribute to the enhancement of the compliance framework to meet MiCA, AML/CTF, TFR, DORA, and payments regulatory requirements.
- Support licensing activities and regulatory filings (CSSF, EBA/EU guidelines, MiCA RTS/ITS).
- Conduct regulatory watch on EU crypto & payments frameworks.
Financial Crime Compliance (FCC)
- Support AML/CTF governance, including transaction monitoring reviews, sanctions escalations, CDD/EDD oversight, and unusual activity investigations.
- Collaborate with 1LOD teams to optimise monitoring tools, sanctions screening, and blockchain-related detection scenarios (behavioural patterns, typologies, wallet-risk intelligence).
Compliance Monitoring (Assurance)
- Execute and improve the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan, including testing, thematic reviews, control design assessments, and reporting.
- Identify gaps, propose remediation actions, and follow up with global teams.
Governance & Reporting
- Prepare board-level compliance reporting and risk dashboards for senior management.
- Support internal/external audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions with the CSSF and other EU authorities.
Training & Advisory
- Deliver compliance training tailored to digital-asset use-cases.
- Provide regulatory advisory to Product, Tech, Ops, and Commercial teams to ensure compliance-by-design.
Profile & Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Risk, or a related field.
- Certifications such as ACAMS, ACFCS, ICA, or blockchain-related credentials are a strong asset.
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years in Compliance (Advisory, Monitoring, Assurance) within:
- a VASP,
- a crypto exchange,
- a fintech,
- a payment institution / EMI,
- or a regulated financial institution with exposure to digital assets.
- Solid expertise in:
- AML/CFT
- sanctions
- transaction monitoring
- financial crime investigations
- regulatory reporting
- MiCA/TFR/PSD2 frameworks
- Experience engaging with regulatory authorities (CSSF, MFSA, FCA, ACPR, etc.).
Additional Assets
- Knowledge of blockchain analytics tools (Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM, Scorechain…).
- Familiarity with MiCA licensing, CASP/VASP obligations, and crypto-asset risk typologies.
- Experience in fast-growth, tech-driven environments.
Languages
- English is required (professional level).
- French is a strong advantage due to regulatory interactions in Luxembourg.
