About Bank.Green & Watchtower
Bank.Green is a nonprofit working to accelerate the shift away from fossil-fuel financing by improving transparency and accountability in the banking system. Watchtower is our new platform for detecting when banks may be violating their own climate commitments. It analyses policy documents, tracks changes over time, compares them against real-world fossil-fuel financing and flags potential breaches for analysts, campaigners and journalists.
We are now hiring a product designer-researcher to help translate expert climate-finance workflows into a clear, credible and highly usable product.
The Role
We’re looking for someone who sits at the intersection of product discovery, UX design and user research. You’ll help Watchtower evolve into a trusted system used by policy analysts, campaigners and investigative teams.
Responsibilities
Product discovery & ownership
• Turn real investigative and policy-analysis workflows into structured product requirements.
• Prioritise features based on user research, data complexity and feasibility.
• Work with founders and engineers to develop and refine the product roadmap.
• Support clear decision-making on trade-offs and sequencing.
User research
• Conduct interviews with policy analysts, campaigners, and investigative teams.
• Map how different organisations analyse policies, track breaches and build cases.
• Synthesise insights into actionable requirements for the product.
• Work directly with our NGO partners to validate assumptions and prototypes.
UX design
• Design user flows and interfaces across core areas of the product.
• Produce prototypes to test and iterate quickly with users.
• Translate complex datasets and policy information into clear, navigable interfaces that support fast investigative work.
Collaboration & delivery
• Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are implementable and well-specified.
• Produce clear documentation of flows, logic and user needs.
• Iterate rapidly based on feedback from users and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
Must have
• Demonstrated experience designing complex, data-heavy or workflow-heavy products.
• Strong UX fundamentals: interaction design, information architecture and user flows.
• Experience conducting user research and turning insights into product decisions.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-moving early-stage environment.
• Clear communication with both engineers and domain experts.
Nice to have
• Experience with civic tech, investigative tools, fintech, compliance or similar.
• Familiarity with climate finance or sustainability policies.
• Experience designing verification/review systems (compliance, QA, moderation, etc.).
• Ability to create mid- to high-fidelity prototypes in Figma.
Other details
• Freelance hourly rate: €70–100, depending on experience.
• Time requirement: Up to 10 hours per week, ongoing.
• Location: Netherlands.
