Backend Engineer - Quantum + AI - 9 months contract - Zaragoza, Spain

Join a European deep-tech leader at the forefront of quantum and AI innovation. The team is backed by major global strategic investors and strong EU support, and is already reshaping how AI is deployed worldwide.

As the business expands we are now looking for a Backend Engineer to join the team in Zaragoza.

Required Qualifications:

• 2–5 years of experience developing and maintaining backend systems in Python or Go
• Strong understanding of RESTful API or gRPC design, including versioning and performance optimization
• Experience with Docker and basic familiarity with Kubernetes for deploying scalable services
• Solid knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and schema design best practices
• Experience integrating or automating workflows across multiple systems (data pipelines, CI/CD, ML tooling)
• Proficiency with Git, testing frameworks, and CI/CD platforms (GitLab, GitHub Actions)
• Experience with AWS or other cloud deployment environments
• A product-focused mindset, able to convert R&D prototypes or scripts into reliable, production-ready APIs or microservices

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ML workflow orchestration tools (Flyte, Airflow, MLflow, Kubeflow)
• Exposure to LLM inference and deployment tools (vLLM, Hugging Face Hub, NVIDIA NIM, Triton)
• Experience building or integrating benchmarking, evaluation, or data-automation pipelines
• Familiarity with message queues or event-driven systems (Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ)
• Understanding of observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with product and design teams to define backend contracts that enable seamless user experiences
