IT - Security Specialist V
Contract Period: 12 Months with potential to extend or convert
Location: Toronto, ON
Location Type: Hybrid - Currently 2 days on site, moving to 4 days on site
Business Hours: Monday – Friday; Core business hours
Experience & Qualification Requirements:
- 10 Years of Experience in an Information Technology role preferably within the financial services Industry or a consulting company
- University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent Information Security certification
- Knowledge and understanding of various database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Azure PaaS DBs, and/or Oracle, and ideally with some knowledge of: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DB2, MySQL (Not all are required)
- Experience with Database Security Administration or Governance thereof
- NIST, config drift and vulnerability management, understanding of Qualys
- Must be organized, flexible, and able to multitask
- Solid communication written and verbal skills are required
- Creating Process Control and Documents
- Working with business partners to ensure remediation plans are followed
- Resourceful and able to work independently with minimum supervision under the direction of the Database Security Governance PO
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee, monitor, enforce enterprise frameworks and methodologies that relate to technology controls / information security activities
- Participate in business specific / cross-functional / enterprise initiatives helping to identify risk and provide guidance
- Contribute to the review of internal processes and activities and assist in identifying potential opportunities for improvement
- Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency especially of existing processes
- Understanding of key controls, ability to write TSS / STIG standard documents
- Create opportunities to educate clients/ stakeholders to influence a risk aware culture
- Able to work well with others and in particular be able to influence and change behaviors and build consensus
- Participate in development of pre-defined database security control exceptions, e.g. allowing database owner permissions for registered service accounts when required by vendor design of COTS
- Review requests for database security exceptions (e.g. validating that exception request fall into pre-defined exception use-cases; exceptions to controls on excessive permissions, encryption of data at-rest or in-transit)
- Work with the client to ensure the requests meet the required Security standards
- Keep current on emerging trends / developments and grow knowledge of the business, analytical tools and techniques
