Contract Duration: 12 Months (1,900 Hours)

Our Client is seeking a skilled Mobile App Developer to support ongoing enhancements and new feature development for the MyFWP mobile app and the new Explore Montana (XMT) mobile application. The developer will work as part of FWP's Agile/SCRUM team, collaborating closely with project managers, app owners, and technical staff. Work includes UI/UX, database modifications, API integrations, backend tasks, testing, documentation, and delivery of production-ready code every sprint.

This role requires hybrid work, with onsite presence every Wednesday in Helena, MT.

  • Build new features, screens, and modules.
  • Improve user experience and existing app functionality.
  • Implement technical changes assigned by FWP.
  • Develop new components or expand functionality as defined by the FWP Project Manager.

  • Work must follow FWP priority order
  • Develop UI/UX components
  • Implement database updates, queries, data structures

  • Deliver buildable, deployable code after every sprint
  • Fix defects identified during UAT
  • Provide corrected code quickly and efficiently
  • Support retesting cycles with FWP staff
  • Follow development, architecture, and security standards
  • Follow acceptable use and state IT policies
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science OR Software Engineering
    • OR Associate Degree OR technical certifications + experience
  • Experience must demonstrate:
    • Mobile app development (Android/iOS preferred)
    • UI/UX development
    • API integrations
    • Database development (queries, tables, structures)
    • Testing and defect resolution
    • Agile/SCRUM participation
  • Strong experience with Git/GitLab
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work onsite weekly in Helena, Montana (Wednesday)
  • Experience developing apps for public-sector or regulatory-driven environments
  • Experience with outdoor recreation, licensing, or permit-based apps
  • Experience with complex mobile UI flows
  • Experience with backend integration for licensing systems (ALS or similar)
  • Fully functional, buildable mobile app code
  • Tested, deployable code every sprint
  • Documented code changes (comments, logs, notes)
