AI Developer – Build Real-World AI in a Global Business

Glasgow - hybrid

£60,000–£75,000 + benefits

Are you ready to move beyond AI “experiments” and ship solutions that power critical, real-world operations?

This business is a global leader in energy solutions, helping organisations stay online, grow, and support communities around the world. They are building a brand-new in-house AI team and are hiring an AI Developer to help take AI from prototype to production at scale.

As an AI Developer, you’ll sit at the intersection of software engineering, data science and cloud – designing and delivering intelligent applications that make a measurable impact across the business.

You’ll be one of the early hires into this team, giving you the chance to:

  • Shape how AI is designed, built and deployed across the organisation
  • Work closely with data scientists and senior engineers on end-to-end solutions
  • Help define best practices, tooling and standards for AI in an enterprise context

You’ll be hands-on with:

  • Building AI-powered applications using C#/.NET and/or Python on Azure
  • Turning models into products – integrating AI services into scalable, reliable systems
  • Using Azure AI services (e.g. Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, AI-driven APIs) to add automation, analytics and decisioning into business applications
  • Designing and consuming RESTful APIs for AI and enterprise applications
  • Deploying to the cloud using Azure (AKS, Container Apps, etc.) and modern DevOps practices
  • Infrastructure as Code with tools like Terraform to streamline and standardise deployments

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to tick every box, but you’ll likely bring most of:

  • Strong experience with C#/.NET and/or Python, ideally in data- or AI-heavy environments
  • Good understanding of AI concepts and how AI systems are built and integrated
  • Experience building or integrating APIs (REST; GraphQL a bonus)
  • Hands-on with Azure (e.g. Azure OpenAI, AKS, Container Apps)
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. Azure Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL)
  • Familiarity with microservices, event-driven architectures, containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub
  • Clear, confident communication and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset

Why join this business?

  • Join a new AI function in its growth phase – genuine influence, not just execution
  • Work on meaningful, large-scale problems that keep businesses and communities running
  • Strong commitment to learning, coaching and career growth

Inclusion & belonging

This business welcomes people from all backgrounds and experiences. What matters is your skills, your potential and the value you bring – not your ethnicity, gender, religion, sexuality, disability or background. If you need adjustments during the process, they’ll be happy to support.
