DevOps Engineer – Telecom BSS/OSS

Location: Helsinki, Finland (Hybrid)

Contract Type: 12-Month Freelance

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in telecom BSS/OSS environments to join our team on a 12-month freelance contract. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, container orchestration, and monitoring tools, coupled with a deep understanding of telecom business and operational support systems. This role offers a hybrid working model in Helsinki and the opportunity to lead key DevOps initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration using Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
• Manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar monitoring/logging tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and agile teams to deliver high-quality telecom solutions.
• Apply knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, LDAP) and telecom standards in system operations.
• Drive DevOps initiatives independently, ensuring operational efficiency and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of DevOps engineering experience, preferably within telecom BSS/OSS environments.
• Strong understanding of telecom business and operational support systems (billing, CRM, network management, provisioning).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools, infrastructure automation, and container orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with system monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.
• Solid knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and telecom standards.
• Experience working in agile and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) in telecom environments.
• Familiarity with telecom security practices and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell.
• Certifications in relevant DevOps, cloud, or telecom technologies (e.g., CKA, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, TM Forum certifications).
