Software Engineering Manager

Are you a hands-on engineering leader who loves solving problems in regulated environments? We have partnered with a fast-moving deep-tech team building next-generation, minimally invasive medical robotics and software that improve patient outcomes.

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join the team.

What you’ll do

• Own architecture, development and the product roadmap across embedded, backend and frontend systems.
• Design, implement and test software components; ensure scalability, modularity and robustness.
• Lead feature development to meet product milestones and clinical requirements.
• Work closely with hardware, systems and product teams to guarantee tight software-hardware integration.
• Build and maintain development infrastructure: servers, cloud environments, CI/CD and deployment pipelines.
• Champion modern engineering practices and keep the team current with advances in robotics and medical software.

Regulatory & Quality

• Ensure software development practices comply with medical device standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304).
• Implement and oversee static code analysis, automated testing and traceable documentation.
• Support preparation of technical documentation for audits and regulatory submissions.
• Foster a culture of quality, traceability and engineering discipline across the lifecycle.

Team leadership

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of ~4 software engineers.
• Run sprint planning, code reviews and technical workshops to maintain engineering excellence.
• Drive hiring, onboarding and career development; provide regular feedback and hands-on guidance.

About You

Technical skills

• Expert in Python with production experience, static analysis and automated testing.
• Solid JavaScript experience, ideally with React or similar frameworks.
• Proven experience in regulated product development (medical device, robotics, or similar).
• Comfortable across embedded systems, cloud infrastructure and software-hardware interfaces.
• Strong with Git, CI/CD and testing frameworks (PyTest, Jest, or equivalents).

Education & experience

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years leading software teams in demanding or regulated industries (MedTech, robotics, aerospace, etc.).
