SUMMARY
This is a technical role providing remote support in a complex optical network environment. The candidate will be required to develop and maintain an expertise on the products deployed within the customer’s network, supporting all aspects of support and implementation of the DWDM and OTN portfolio. The role is based in Oberursel, near Frankfurt, Germany.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring of customer network regarding failures in the core layer
- Implementation of measures to ensure network availability and stability
- Monitoring and analysis of network resources and capacities (quality management)
- Technical analysis of the malfunctions by degree and scope, SLA-based troubleshooting and incident management
- Coordination, monitoring, and guidance of on-site field service to ensure effective troubleshooting
- Coordination of hardware replacement and RMA activities
- Supporting the deployment of new optical architecture
- Support planning and validation of network extensions, reconfigurations within the network, software upgrades
Qualifications:
- BSc and/or completed professional training as a communications electronics technician
- 2 years of professional experience in a telecommunications environment, or electrical engineer with focus on communication technology, preferably in optical networks
- Technical knowledge of communications technology and protocols, ideally in DWDM, OTN layers - Advantage
- Experience with MS Office applications (esp. Excel and Visio)
- Strong team player with “can-do” attitude
- High resilience and service orientation
- Great communication skills (internal and client-facing)
- Readiness to work in a 3-shifts operating model (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
- Fluent written and spoken in German and English - mandatory;
