About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support the client Digital Design and Delivery Division (DDD) as part of its province-wide digital transformation initiative. The successful candidate will enable cross-functional teams to deliver modern, user-centered digital services through effective Agile leadership, coaching, and facilitation.
You will partner with GoA product owners, designers, and technical teams to streamline sprint delivery, remove roadblocks, promote continuous improvement, and support innovation across multiple digital programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coach Agile teams on Scrum principles, practices, and frameworks to support consistent, predictable delivery.
• Facilitate all Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demos, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Partner with GoA product owners to support backlog organization, prioritization, sprint commitments, release planning, and dependency management.
• Monitor delivery metrics such as burndown, velocity, sprint progress, and quality indicators; prepare progress reports for GoA leadership.
• Identify risks, blockers, and inefficiencies, taking proactive steps to resolve issues and protect team focus.
• Support digital service delivery activities including field research, design activities, and user testing sessions.
• Promote transparent communication across product, design, and technical teams.
• Ensure all work aligns with GoA digital service standards, Agile best practices, and project governance requirements.
• Provide mentorship to team members to foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
• Active Scrum Master Certification (PSM ) – required.
• 2+ years coaching teams in Agile delivery, facilitating ceremonies, and promoting collaboration.
• 4+ years leading major Agile ceremonies such as planning, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.
• 5+ years working within Agile development environments.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, change management, and team-building skills.
• Ability to work across multiple concurrent projects (2–3) in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Skills
• Experience delivering training via Microsoft Teams or other web-based platforms.
• Experience aligning sprint work with product owner priorities (backlog/sprint planning).
• Familiarity with JIRA or Azure DevOps for backlog and sprint management.
• 5+ years experience with software development lifecycle and Agile standards.
• Experience with Government Sector IM/IT policies and public-sector environments.
• Experience supporting registries modernization projects.
• Experience working with UX, service design, or human-centered design teams.
