Location: London, UK
Role Type: Full‑time
Function: Cloud Migration / Program Delivery
Description :
Drive a complex, multi‑business‑unit migration to Nutanix on Azure (NC2) with an end‑to‑end delivery plan and clear critical path, enabling engineering teams to stay focused on execution. The role shapes the plan by asking the right questions, orchestrating cross‑functional dependencies, and proactively surfacing optimization opportunities—without introducing administrative drag.
- Build a comprehensive migration plan covering scope, technical approach, resourcing, sequencing, and cross‑BU dependencies; maintain a living critical path and milestone baseline.
- Establish an industrialized migration factory cadence (waves / move groups) with entry/exit criteria, readiness checks, and cutover playbooks.
- Align platform, network, security, application, and testing workstreams; unblock teams through rapid decision cycles and crisp RAID management.
- Coordinate 3rd parties and OEMs; ensure Landing Zone enhancements and platform services are ready when needed (identity, networking, monitoring, backup, patching).
- Run weekly plan‑on‑a‑page reviews; track throughput, burn‑down, risks, and earned value using concise dashboards; escalate only the “few, vital” exceptions.
- Drive change readiness (freeze windows, mock runs, rollback plans) and quality gates (design reviews, test sign‑offs, operational acceptance).
- Orchestrate migrations to NC2 on Azure, including Nutanix Move workflows, landing‑zone automation (e.g., Terraform), and platform integrations (backup, monitoring, patch, DNS).
- Manage dependencies across identity (Azure AD), networking (ExpressRoute/VNet peering/NSGs/route tables), containers (AKS), and data platforms; plan DR topology and inter‑region considerations where applicable.
- Translate engineering detail into executive‑ready narratives; maintain alignment with business cutover calendars, service acceptance, and compliance expectations.
- Champion a “minimum bureaucracy” ethos: concise documentation, single source of truth, decisions logged once.
- Plan realism: Critical path is current; milestones achieved within agreed variance.
- Throughput: Defined number of workloads/apps migrated per wave with agreed success criteria.
- Stability: Cutovers meet downtime targets; no severity‑1 incidents attributable to planning defects.
- Risk posture: Top risks/assumptions actively retired; audit/compliance gates passed first time.
- Team enablement: Positive feedback from delivery teams on friction reduction and clarity.
Essential experience
- Hands‑on familiarity with Nutanix (NC2) and orchestrating migrations using Nutanix Move.
- Proven delivery of landing zones and platform services on Azure; IaC at scale (Terraform), config automation , CI/CD, and Dev/Test orchestration.
- Platform toolchain awareness: backup (Rubrik), monitoring/APM (AppDynamics/Dynatrace), DNS , patch/orchestration (SCCM).
- Strong grounding in Azure AD, networking, AKS, and enterprise security/compliance practices.
- Comfort with RAID management, wave planning, mock runs, and cutover playbooks; adept at balancing speed and risk.
- Tools: JIRA/Helix for backlog & change; confluence‑style docs; data‑driven dashboards.
Nice‑to‑have
- Exposure to Oracle Exadata on Azure patterns, L2 extension strategies for IP preservation, and multi‑cloud DR (e.g., NC2 on AWS).
- FinOps practices for cloud cost control and optimization.
- Certifications: PMP/PRINCE2, SAFe /Scrum, Azure Solutions Architect.
