Manager - Data Science / Machine Learning

Prometeia, a leading provider of software solutions and consulting services for Risk Management, Financial Analysis, and Planning for financial institutions, is extending its capabilities by creating a data science team in Turkey region and is looking for a manager within the areas of Data Science and ML Engineering.
The candidate will be placed in the team of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with an entrepreneurship soul and a focus on not only financial institutions' digitalization processes but also cross-sectoral real-world applications of AI. The ideal candidate will have strong managerial/leadership skills and software engineering principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leading the end-to-end design, development, and validation of Machine Learning (ML) solutions for financial and cross-sector AI applications
- Coordinate activities with clients, prepare project time plans, manage tasks, and oversee the timely delivery of outputs
- Collaborate closely with local and international data scientists, domain experts, and business stakeholders to translate analytical insights into production-ready solutions
- Lead and mentor project teams of senior and/or junior data scientists
- Stay up to date with the literature; research, prototype, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art ML/DL algorithms (including LLMs and Generative AI) for real-world data science problems
- Identify digitalization opportunities in client workflows, propose the right analytical approach, and present results clearly to clients
- Demonstrate agility to multitask and adopt new technologies in a dynamic, research-driven environment
- Engage in applied research, co-author technical papers, and represent Prometeia at data science conferences or academic collaborations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree (completed or in progress) in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- 3-4 years of strong academic and/or industry experience in Data Science and AI
REQUIREMENTS:
- Domain experience in risk and marketing analytics is a plus
- Proficiency and hands-on experience in Python programming
- Practical experience with one or more of the following frameworks/libraries: TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, PySpark, pandas, scikit-learn
- Know-how on container platforms and cloud/on-prem deployment (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred
- Experience in relational SQL and NoSQL (Redis, Mongo DB, Cassandra) databases
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
- Computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, run-time analysis, object oriented design patterns
- Experience in Linux/Unix operating system
- Experience with code versioning tools (Git).
SOFT SKILLS
- Ability to effectively communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with an emphasis on clear data visualization
- Proven team leadership and mentoring abilities, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within multidisciplinary teams
- High attention to detail, structured problem-solving mindset, and accountability for project delivery
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across stakeholders and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
