Bitdeer Technologies Group (Nasdaq: BTDR) is a global leader in advanced computing solutions, headquartered in Singapore with facilities in the US, Norway, and Bhutan. TDC is our established, green data center in Tydal, Norway, utilizing natural cooling for energy-efficient operations. With 27 employees, TDC is entering an exciting conversion phase to an AI Data Center, focusing on innovative, secure, and efficient infrastructure. We value diverse perspectives and are an inclusive workplace.
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, build, and operationalization of a state-of-the-art AI Datacenter Network located in Tydal, Norway. This critical role requires deep expertise in modern datacenter networking and leadership in large-scale implementation. You will ensure the network is designed and deployed in compliance with local standards and will be the lead expert responsible for its ongoing operations.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Design and Planning
- Collaborate closely with network architects to review, refine, and validate a highly scalable, high-bandwidth network architecture optimized for AI/ML workloads.
- Ensure the design incorporates best practices for modern datacenter fabrics, focusing on low-latency, non-blocking performance (e.g., Spine-Leaf, Clos topologies).
- Ensure all network designs and equipment specifications comply with Norwegian and EU regulations and standards regarding data protection and critical infrastructure.
- Specify hardware and software requirements, including high-density switches, high-speed optical interconnects (400G+), and advanced network operating systems.
- Oversee the development of detailed network schematics, diagrams, and documentation.
- Act as the technical lead overseeing the physical build and logical configuration of the network infrastructure in Tydal.
- Serve as the primary local technical liaison for the network build-out, driving technical decisions on site.
- Coordinate logistics, staging, and deployment activities with local Norwegian vendors and datacenter construction teams.
- Develop and execute comprehensive implementation plans and change control procedures.
- Conduct rigorous post-implementation validation and performance testing to ensure the network meets all design specifications and performance KPIs for AI/ML traffic.
- Take full ownership of the network infrastructure once the datacenter is operational ("energized").
- Implement and manage advanced network monitoring, logging, and telemetry systems tailored for high-speed datacenter fabrics.
- Define and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network maintenance and incident response.
- Serve as the top-tier escalation point for all critical network incidents, ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution to maintain high availability.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years focused on large-scale datacenter networks.
- Proven experience with high-speed Ethernet fabrics (e.g., 100G/400G) and Spine-Leaf/Clos architectures.
- Expert-level knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, and IP Fabric technologies.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML compute requirements and how they impact network design (e.g., RDMA, high-throughput, low-latency).
- Ability to travel as needed for design collaboration and vendor meetings, though the primary location will be Tydal, Norway.
- Experience working in Nordic datacenter environments or familiarity with local infrastructure providers.
- Proficiency in network automation using Python or other scripting languages.
- Certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or Arista ACE.
- Fluency in a Nordic language (Norwegian or Swedish) is a strong asset, though English is required for technical documentation.
- A culture that values authenticity and diverse perspectives.
- An inclusive, respectful environment with open workspaces and an energetic, start-up spirit.
- A fast-growing company with opportunities to network with industry pioneers and enthusiasts.
- The ability to contribute directly and make an impact on the future of the digital asset and AI computing industry.
- Involvement in new projects and in developing processes/systems.
- Personal accountability, autonomy, rapid growth, and learning opportunities.
- Attractive benefits and development such as training and mentoring.
