Are you a DevOps engineer who likes ownership and solving real problems, not just maintaining pipelines? Do you enjoy building automation, improving reliability, and working with a modern cloud stack in a team that values autonomy?

WideSky is an Australian product that's rapidly growing to deliver IoT solutions for the energy, buildings, and industrial sectors. We help customers turn data into insights, enabling them to improve performance, efficiency, and sustainability for customers across Australia and the United States.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who enjoys working across infrastructure, automation, observability, and security. This role has genuine influence on how our platform operates and evolves, and is ideal for someone who wants to leave things better than they found them.

What you will do

You will work across our cloud platform and self-hosted services, building automation and enhancing systems used daily by our teams and customers. You will:

  • Improve and maintain the infrastructure and automation that powers WideSky.
  • Strengthen reliability, performance, and security across the platform.
  • Automate provisioning, deployments, and operational workflows.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues across applications, services, and infrastructure.
  • Support our SOC 2 compliance and help embed secure-by-default practices.
  • Work closely with the technology team and the CTO to drive meaningful improvements.
  • Have the freedom to propose changes, lead small initiatives, and influence how WideSky evolves as we continue to scale.

About you

This role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, takes ownership, and is interested in improving systems. You will be successful here if you have:

  • 5+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a similar production-focused role.
  • Strong experience with Linux, networking, and security fundamentals.
  • Solid hands-on experience with AWS.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, automation and configuration management tools, ideally Terraform and Ansible.
  • Good experience with Docker and container-based workloads.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work with engineers, product, and leadership.
  • Values autonomy within clear expectations and enjoys taking ownership of reliable and secure systems.
  • A mindset focused on reliability, automation, and continuous improvement.

If you enjoy working across a broad problem space and like making things run better, this is the ideal role for you.

Why join WideSky

We offer the chance to work on a meaningful platform with interesting technical challenges, without the layers of a big corporate environment. You will find:

  • Real ownership and the freedom to influence systems and tooling.
  • A supportive engineering culture that values pragmatism, curiosity, and initiative.
  • A modern tech environment across cloud, automation, observability, and security.
  • A hybrid and flexible work environment with a focus on work-life balance.
  • A growing company with real product traction and a clear roadmap.
  • You will have room to grow, solve interesting problems, and make a visible impact on the platform.

Our benefits

We're passionate about supporting the needs of our people and their families. Benefits may include:

  • Hybrid work environment
  • Flexible daily working hours
  • Up to 12 weeks of matched parental leave
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Milestones and recognition program
  • Free annual flu vaccinations
  • Exclusive CBA banking program
  • Novated leasing options
  • Regular team events

If this role sounds like something you would enjoy, we would love to hear from you. Please include a short cover letter explaining what interests you about the role and what you can bring to WideSky.
