Systems Engineer Interns are responsible for assisting in the design and implementation of customer automation projects, supervised by an experienced engineer. Interns work in teams and take a comprehensive approach to solving problems, learning the details of each project’s mechanical, electrical, and software systems. Interns work directly with our project teams and may also interact with end customers.

Responsibilities
- Instrumentation and Electrical Design (20%)
- Create instrument lists by examining piping and instrumentation diagrams
- Compile submittal and procurement documentation for controls and instrument hardware
- Provide technical support for panel fabrication technicians
- Inspect completed control enclosures
- System Design and Configuration (30%)
- Participate in customer design review meetings
- Assemble development system using project hardware and computers
- Configure user interfaces and HMI screens
- Configure various software, databases, IT equipment, Direct Digital Controllers (DDC), Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Draft system documentation from templates
- Assist in developing and performing customer demonstrations and acceptance testing
- Onsite System Startup (50%)
- Install project software and configuration onto site systems
- Perform instrumentation and system startup and testing
- Troubleshoot installation discrepancies and program field modifications as required
- Assist with developing training documentation/presentation on operations and maintenance of system
Required Qualifications
- Professional level English (C1, C2, or Native)
- Pursuing an Engineering Degree (MBO, HBO, MS, or BS)
- Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer or Engineering Technology or related degree
- Entry level Dutch (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, or Native)
- Experience with one or more of the following platforms:Inductive Automation Ignition, or Python Programming
- Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix, PlantPAx, or FactoryTalk
- Emerson DeltaV
- Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs, EcoStruxure, PowerSCADA, Power Monitoring Expert (PME)
- National Instruments LabVIEW
- Siemens S7, PCS7, or WinCC
- Microcontrollers, FPGA, or other embedded systems
- Other: VMWare, Cisco or Fortinet branded software or equipment
- Or similar IT, automation, or MES platform
