What are you going to do?
Our Software Engineering team designs control systems for a wide variety of mechatronic systems and products. Our expertise covers both Industrial Control Systems and Embedded solutions. In addition, we develop PC applications for user interfaces or data processing. The interfaces between mechatronics and electronics to software play an important role.Within multidisciplinary projects such as inspection robots or drones, a portable blood pressure monitor, or a high-end tracker for top athletes, software is involved from the concept phase. This ensures the best results and guarantees that the quality of our software is of a high standard.
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you have an all-round role where you are responsible for specifying, designing, implementing, and testing software within embedded systems. You will work with C, C++, Scrum, Agile, Linux, and Windows. You possess strong technical know-how in Embedded Software and take the lead when necessary. Additionally, you act as a coach and mentor for (junior) software engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test:
- Embedded software for medical devices
- Control software for mechatronic systems
- User interfaces for device interaction
- Ensure compliance with IEC 62304 throughout the software development lifecycle:
- Apply structured software lifecycle processes (planning, development, verification, maintenance)
- Maintain traceability from requirements to implementation and testing
- Integrate risk management in accordance with ISO 14971
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for regulatory audits and quality assurance
- Implement automated testing, code reviews, and static analysis to ensure software safety and reliability
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, QA, regulatory) to deliver integrated solutions
- Participate in hazard analysis and software safety classification (Class A/B/C) as per IEC 62304
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Proven experience in embedded systems and real-time software development
- Strong programming skills in C/C++, and familiarity with Python or C#
- knowledge of IEC 62304 and ISO 14971 standards would be an asset
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
- Familiarity with medical device regulations (FDA, EU MDR) is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a regulated environment
