As a Principal Systems Developer in the Digital Innovations unit, you will play a pivotal role in shaping data and user experience across DTET's digital products. About The Role

As the Principal Systems Developer, you will:

  • Manage and improve the department's websites and platform to support business and operational needs.
  • Provide expert technical advice and support to vendors, developers, and colleagues including those with less experience on how to plan, design, and deliver websites and related applications.
  • Lead and guide the creation and review of plans, strategies, and standards for programming tools and methods that support the agency's long-term application service needs.
  • Maintain and develop all essential documentation, including design documents, project quality plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Liaise with product vendors and clients to identify and resolve complex application issues, as well as to recommend beneficial changes.


What We Are Looking For

We're looking for someone who can:

  • Create and maintain modern websites by designing, building, and deploying them, using web platforms such as the Squiz Matrix/DXP platform.
  • Collaborate with multiple Government departments, following whole-of-government templates and standards to ensure consistency.
  • Gather business requirements from clients and internal stakeholders to deliver effective websites and web tools.
  • Apply strong front-end development skills, working with web standards, technologies, and APIs for seamless integration.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of web content accessibility guidelines and experience in developing websites that adhere to relevant standards.
  • Apply a strong understanding of secure website development and information privacy principles, with experience in applying DevOps and ideally DevSecOps practices.
