About The Role
As the Principal Systems Developer, you will:
- Manage and improve the department's websites and platform to support business and operational needs.
- Provide expert technical advice and support to vendors, developers, and colleagues including those with less experience on how to plan, design, and deliver websites and related applications.
- Lead and guide the creation and review of plans, strategies, and standards for programming tools and methods that support the agency's long-term application service needs.
- Maintain and develop all essential documentation, including design documents, project quality plans, processes, and procedures.
- Liaise with product vendors and clients to identify and resolve complex application issues, as well as to recommend beneficial changes.
We're looking for someone who can:
- Create and maintain modern websites by designing, building, and deploying them, using web platforms such as the Squiz Matrix/DXP platform.
- Collaborate with multiple Government departments, following whole-of-government templates and standards to ensure consistency.
- Gather business requirements from clients and internal stakeholders to deliver effective websites and web tools.
- Apply strong front-end development skills, working with web standards, technologies, and APIs for seamless integration.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of web content accessibility guidelines and experience in developing websites that adhere to relevant standards.
- Apply a strong understanding of secure website development and information privacy principles, with experience in applying DevOps and ideally DevSecOps practices.
