For Client, we are looking for an urgent replacement for an expert data visualization with knowledge of:

HTML, JavaScript and D3.JS. Good knowledge and experience with D3.JS is absolutely necessary.

The consultant works from the central data team for the strategic client Study Service unit.

Below is the description and requested competencies (score card to be completed by the candidate).

The data visualization developer is responsible for the maintenance and further development of a number of custom data visualization applications, including:

Scratch cards (https://arvastat.vdab.be/)

Schoolverlaters (https://www.vdab.be/trendsdoc/schoolverlaters/detail/)

Flanders in Europe (https://europa.vdab.be/)

Professions (www.vdab.be/trendsdoc/beroepen)

Together, these applications contain +/- 20 dashboards with data that can be available and relevant to all citizens in Flanders.

These dashboards are written in HTML and JavaScript. Underlying data is extracted from a SAS database or XLS files and converted to CSV files. The graphs are made with D3.js. This is an open source javascript library for data visualization. In addition to D3.js, other libraries are also used (such as crossfilter, dc.js, topojson, PDFKit, TypeAhead, OpenStreetMap, Leaflet, etc.)

The developer is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of new functionality, starting from the requirements, functional and technical analysis, testing, documentation and go-live. Furthermore, he/she is also responsible for the maintenance of the application. This includes minor changes, operational tasks, and bug fixing.

The team works hybrid, in concrete terms the team works on Mondays in Brussels (1 week optional/1 week mandatory), the other days the team works remotely. Occasionally, a presence in Brussels is also expected for an I&T information session, for example, or because it is functionally required.
