Job Specification: ServiceNow DevOps Engineer (CMDB & Automation)

Location: Hybrid (London-based candidates preferred). Flexible arrangement requiring travel to London a few times per month.

Start Date: January 2025

Duration: 3 Months (Initial) – High potential for 12-month extension.

Industry: Financial Services

Role Overview

We are urgently seeking a specialized ServiceNow DevOps Engineer to lead critical work on Configuration Management Database (CMDB) health and automation. Partnering with a leading Financial Services client, this role focuses on the configuration of Discovery, system integrations, and the implementation of rigorous quality controls to ensure absolute data integrity across the IT estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • CMDB & Discovery Management: Lead the configuration and optimization of ServiceNow Discovery. Ensure the CMDB is a trusted "single source of truth" by maintaining accurate and complete asset and service data.
  • Automation & Integration: Design and build integrations between ServiceNow and third-party infrastructure/DevOps tools. Utilizing Flow Designer and Integration Hub to automate manual data entry and remediation tasks.
  • Data Quality Control: Implement automated quality control mechanisms to monitor CI (Configuration Item) health, identify stale data, and enforce remediation workflows.
  • DevOps Alignment: Bridge the gap between traditional IT Operations and DevOps teams, ensuring asset management aligns with CI/CD pipelines and rapid deployment environments.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • ServiceNow Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, specifically within ITOM (IT Operations Management), CMDB, and Discovery.
  • DevOps Mindset: Experience treating infrastructure data as code; understanding of how to automate data hygiene within a dynamic environment.
  • Scripting & Integration: Strong proficiency in JavaScript, REST/SOAP APIs, and payload mapping.
  • Industry Background: Previous experience working within Financial Services or highly regulated environments is highly preferred.
  • Problem Solving: A proactive approach to identifying gaps in asset visibility and designing automated solutions to close them.

Logistics & Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid Model: This role does not require fixed onsite days. However, candidates must be based in/around London (or able to commute easily) to attend the London office a few times per month for key stakeholder meetings.
  • Contract: Initial 3-month engagement with a view to extend for up to 12 months based on project success.
