Hawksworth UK are partnering with a market-leading technology company in the fuel card payments sector to hire an experienced Scrum Master / Technical Project Manager.

This is an Inside IR35 contract, paying £550–£650 per day (Umbrella), with an initial 6-month term. Extensions are approved every three months, and this is expected to be a long-term engagement.


The development team is based in Woking, Surrey, and the successful candidate will be required on-site 3 days per week (including Wednesdays). For exceptional candidates travelling from further afield, 2 days per week may be considered.


Role: Scrum Master / Technical Project Manager

Environment: Software Development / .NET

Contract: 6 months+, extended in 3-month increments

Location: Hybrid – Woking, Surrey (3 days on-site incl. Wednesdays)

Rate: £550–£650 per day (Inside IR35, via Umbrella)


The Project

You will lead and coach a software development team (4–10 engineers) working on a major initiative to improve the performance and functionality of an existing SaaS payment platform used across the fuel retail payments sector.

The role sits within a SAFe Agile Release Train (ART), where you will guide the team through delivery cycles, remove impediments, and facilitate a high-performance culture.


What We're Looking For

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong background in software development, ideally within the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.
  • 2+ years’ experience as both a Scrum Master and Project Manager.
  • Deep understanding of Scrum techniques, events, and artifacts (Definition of Done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement, sprint ceremonies, etc.).
  • Experience working within SAFe is highly desirable.

Leadership & Delivery

  • Confident facilitator of Scrum events (Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives).
  • Strong focus on outcome-driven ceremonies and measurable delivery.
  • Ability to enable flow using Scrum and/or Kanban, including visualising work, managing WIP, and using flow metrics (cycle time, throughput, work item ageing).
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and the ability to positively influence and motivate teams.
