At AXA UK, we're on an exciting journey as we transition towards a product-centric way of working. Our Product Teams are at the heart of how we deliver customer and business value, and we’re evolving our operating model to build long-lived, empowered squads focused on outcomes, not projects.

As a Scrum Master, you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling this shift. You’ll be joining a growing community of Scrum Masters who are shaping the future of how we deliver, collaborate, and continuously improve across AXA. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real, visible impact—both on their squad and across the wider organisation. Your work will directly influence how teams adapt to working in a modern product environment: establishing strong agile foundations, maturing delivery practices, and helping product squads operate with clarity, purpose, and flow. You’ll champion agility, foster psychological safety, remove blockers, and bring energy and structure to help the team deliver value predictably and sustainably.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build and develop a new Scrum team, establishing Agile frameworks while working within a predominantly waterfall environment.
  • Support and coach an existing team in adopting agile practices, gradually enhancing their ways of working.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Remove impediments that hinder team progress, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Build trust and influence team members and stakeholders to embrace agile ways of working.
  • Monitor and review sprint metrics, velocity, and impediment logs to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to manage backlogs and align delivery priorities.
  • Promote transparency, collaboration, and high morale within squads to foster a positive Agile culture.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master, particularly in establishing and scaling new Agile teams within a hybrid waterfall environment.
  • Demonstrable success in guiding teams through cultural and process change from traditional to Agile practices.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a transitioning environment, maintaining progress in waterfall contexts while embedding agility.
  • Strong grasp of software delivery, Azure DevOps, testing, and technical concepts, with the ability to facilitate alignment between business goals and technical execution.
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience in leading Agile ceremonies.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills, with a focus on building trust and influencing change.
  • Deep understanding of Agile principles and frameworks, especially Scrum.
  • Experience in identifying and removing obstacles, resolving conflicts, and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels and promoting collaboration.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
